Over the weekend, Disney-owned Lucasfilm revealed this stunning Star Wars – The Force Awakens theatrical poster. The poster features artwork by legendary artist Drew Struzan, who actually came out of retirement to do the poster. Drew has done posters for all 6 of the previous Star Wars films, and the new poster makes a great addition to the set.
To the top right corner of the poster, you’ll notice the new “Star Killer”, which seems to be a successor to the previous Death Star(s) that the Empire had. I also see a variation in the new First Order Stormtrooper gear in the lineup of them at the bottom of the poster. Seemingly absent from the poster is the original saga’s hero, Luke Skywalker. While this seems to raise more questions, all will be revealed on December 18, 2015 when Star Wars – The Force Awakens hits movie theaters.
Also announced this past weekend will be the release of a new Star Wars – The Force Awakens trailer to be played during halftime of the New York Giants vs. Philadelphia Eagles game tonight on ESPN. Pre-sale tickets for Star Wars – The Force Awakens will go on sale immediately after the trailer airs.
