Disney Movie Trailers released more new John Carter footage on their official YouTube channel.  The movie’s release is now just a month away and I have to agree with one YouTube user’s comment on the video that this should have been the trailer we saw during the Super Bowl.

It’s a bit more revealing in showing us quite a few clips we haven’t seen yet, but as movie trailers oft tend to do, it’s hard to get any real semblance of the finished product that we will see on screen since it’s more or less a bunch of short clips piece-mealed together.

In any case, for those of you who have read Burroughs’s novelization of “A Princess of Mars” you probably know a good deal of the movie since that is the book that the movie is mostly based on.  In any case, I sincerely hope that Andrew Stanton’s first live-action effort has enough big screen appeal to eventually see him directing other movies in the near future.  It certainly looks promising enough from the trailers, March’s box office totals will tell us for sure.

John Carter debuts in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D on March 9th.

From Academy Award®–winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton comes “John Carter”—a sweeping action-adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars). “John Carter” is based on a classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, whose highly imaginative adventures served as inspiration for many filmmakers, both past and present. The film tells the story of war-weary, former military captain John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins). In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands.
