The Hollywood Reporter confirmed yesterday that the Star Trek Into Darkness director will helm the newest film in the continuing Star Wars saga.
The newest film in the Star Wars series is set to have a 2015 release date and Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3) is currently working on the script.
The story is said to take place after the events of Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, though we don’t know yet how far in the future that new story will be. There’s also been lots of talk as to whether any of the original Star Wars actors, like Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford or Carrie Fisher, will have a part, or even cameos in the new series.
With Abrams already having a firm grasp on Star Trek and now the newest Star Wars film, one thing’s for certain, the millions of voices that suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced? They’re called “Trekkies”!
