This could be good (or possibly bad) news, depending on your opinion of such stuff.

Disney announced today that Marvel’s The Avengers (releasing May 4, 2012) will now have a 3D theatrical release.

The problem with 3d films not shot in 3D (which The Avengers was not) is that you can end up with a shoddy post-converted 3D film.  I’m hopeful that 3D post-conversion of 2D films has come a long way.  George Lucas seems to think so, anyway.  But then again, Lucas isn’t known for making the best decisions regarding his own films either.

Disney Studios said another, (still) untitled Marvel movie has been moved up from a June 27, 2014 release to a April 4, 2014 release.
