We knew this day was coming…

Last day to ride the Maliboomer over at Disney California Adventure will be September 6th (Labor Day).  Plans to dismantle it will commence on September 7th.

Admittedly, the S&S Power Space Shot ride never really fit with the 20’s and 30’s seaside amusement boardwalk style that they were going for with Paradise Pier.  Plus, a pre-packaged ride that you can find at another amusement park or state fair is kind of a slap in the face to Disney Imagineering anyway.

There was talk at one time about a parachute-drop ride (think Toy Story army men paratroopers) similar to the Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop at Disneyland Paris (below).

But plans change and as Uncle Walt said “Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world.”
Not certain yet what the final plan for the area will be, but I suspect that there will probably be some landscaping and/or benches that end up going in, as there really isn’t a whole lot of space to put up a new attraction to replace the Maliboomer.

Are you sad to see the Maliboomer going away?
What do you think they should do with the area?
