Actress Carrie Fisher has passed away this morning after she suffered a heart attack on a London to Los Angeles flight last Friday, December 23rd.
Family spokesperson Simon Halls confirmed the news to The Hollywood Reporter.
“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning. She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly,” Halls’ statement read.
Fisher became famous the world over with her iconic role in the original Star Wars trilogy as Princess Leia. She later reprised her role as an older version of her character in last year’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens and was also scheduled to appear in next years Star Wars: Episode VIII. As Episode VIII is now in post-production, it will be the last time we get to see Carrie on-screen.
