I just love a good Travolta movie!  He’s good at playing a bad guy but gives a very memorable performance as good guy, George Malley in Touchstone Pictures’ 1996 movie Phenomenon.

Now available to own for the first time on Blu-ray, Phenomenon is a story about small garage owner and mechanic George Malley. Malley’s a pretty likeable guy and after a night of celebrating at the town bar for his 37th birthday, he stumbles out of the bar and witnesses a life changing event. A light comes down out of the night sky and literally strikes him down in the street. After coming to, he starts realizing things are different. For starters, he can’t sleep. So he starts reading…and reading…and reading. George soaks up everything from every book he can get his hands on. Suddenly, he has photographic memory after “the event”. He also realizes he now has telekinesis!

Sadly, George’s newfound abilities are discovered by the other townspeople and people start treating him differently, to the point of actually being afraid of him. George’s life will never be the same, but it’s really all about the journey his life takes from that point on.

Great contributions on the soundtrack with songs from Eric Clapton (Change the World) and Cheryl Crow (Everyday is a Winding Road) and some stellar performances from Robert Duvall, Forest Whittaker and Kyra Sedgewick help to contribute to the “feel good” vibe of the film too!
