At a special event this morning at the El Capitan theater in Hollywood, Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige gave fans the reveal of the year.  Some things previously rumored are now fact and some new things came to light that we didn’t even know about.

Feige originally teased fans with the title for Captain America 3, called Captain America: Serpent Society.  He later proved he has a sense of humor and was just messing with us when he told everyone the real title would be Captain America: Civil War.  This will be based on the Civil War series from Marvel and we’ll see Cap and Iron Man on different sides of the fence.  Not that Steve Rogers and Tony Stark have ever disagreed on anything before…

Feige went on to announce the Doctor Strange movie but refrained from mentioning Benedict Cumberbatch in the title role, as they are still working on putting the lid on that.  Doctor Strange (hopefully with an “official” Cumberbatch announcement) will release on November 4, 2016.

James Gunn, director of Guardians of the Galaxy, then came in via video from Japan announcing that not only will we be getting a sequel to GOTG, but that the release date has been bumped up to May 5, 2017, which now places it about 2 months earlier from its original scheduled release date.  You’re welcome!

Kevin Feige then came back and announced a sequel for our favorite Asgardian hero titled Thor: Ragnarok.  The sequel will pick up just after the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron and much like Captain America: The Winter Soldier did, “will impact everything to come afterwards”.  So we can expect a pretty big shake up for our favorite characters to come.

Now, on to something new.  No title card was released for the next picture announced but the concept art presented for Black Panther is much better anyway.  Look for a Nov. 3, 2017 release for Black Panther.

Captain Marvel will be the first Marvel Studios film to feature a female superhero, Carol Danvers, as the lead.  Although I remember Danvers as Miss Marvel, so we’ll have to wait and see if they changed to to Captain, or in addition to.  Captain Marvel will release on July 6, 2018

Nov. 2, 2018 will bring us Inhumans.  I know nothing of this title, so I can’t comment more on it.

The third installment of The Avengers will be split into two films.  Look for Infinity War: Part I on May 4, 2018 and Avengers: Infinity War: Part II, the following year on May 3, 2019.  Infinity War, Infinity Stones, Infinity Gauntlet, Thanos, Big Boss battle…  Anyone else connecting these dots?
