Good news for fans of the marvel Cinematic Universe (and its tv counterparts), ABC has renewed Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for a second season and has given the final ok for a Captain America spin-off series.

Since Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is already established canon (about to wrap its 1st season) I won’t go into the details of what that show is about, as most of you know by now.

The Cap spin-off has actually been in talks for some time now.  The show is based around Hayley Atwell’s Agent Peggy Carter.  The show will take place in 1946, about a year after the events of Captain America: The First Avenger.  Marvel’s One-Shot “Agent Carter” was pretty much the setup (or pilot) for what will be the new show.  From what I’ve been able to get from our sources, it looks like “Agent Carter” will be the title of the show.  The original news on the show is that it would be a mid-season show (like Once Upon a Time in Wonderland was originally supposed to be) but I’m hearing reports that it may be airing in the regular Fall lineup?  There’s also (unconfirmed) rumors that Howard Stark could be a recurring character.  While this makes total sense, it’s still unconfirmed, nor do we know if it would be Dominic Cooper returning as the character.
